Brian Conley leaves Strictly Come Dancing

Brian Conley has been booted from ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 56-year-old comedian found himself in the dreaded dance-off on Sunday’s (22.10.17) results show, and after his Jive – which he performed alongside professional partner Amy Dowden – failed to win over the judges when put up against chef Simon Rimmer’s Charleston, he was sent home.
Fourth judge Bruno Tonioli was missing from the judging panel due to a "busy schedule", but all three remaining judges – Craig Revel-Horwood, Darcey Bussell, and head judge Shirley Ballas – used their vote to save Simon and his partner Karen Clifton.
Speaking after the results were announced, Brian showered his professional partner with kind words, though not before he joked he was talking about fellow contestant and former JLS member Aston Merrygold.
He said: "I have loved everything about this, I truly have. It’s one of the greatest shows, it’s a family show, and you know what? There’s been someone by my side all the way through this journey who’s been there every moment, and that is Aston. I love him.
"No! I love this lady [Amy]. I wanted to be on this show forever and ever because I want everyone out there to know how special this lady is. She’s a star, and I love her."
And Amy – who was new to the BBC Latin and ballroom dance competition this year – had similar praise to heap on Brian, whom she credited for giving her the "most amazing" experiences on the dance floor.
She said: "I’ve had the most amazing time. I’ve got not just Brian, but his entire family as friends for life. And thank you from the bottom of my heart."
‘Strictly Come Dancing’ returns on BBC One next Saturday (28.10.17), where the celebrities will be performing dances with a Halloween theme.
