Russell Crowe is in a band with 1D genius Carl Falk

Russell Crowe is in a band with One Direction writer Carl Falk.
The Oscar-winning actor has formed Inside Garden Party with the lyrical genius behind a string of the super group’s biggest hits, including ‘What Makes You Beautiful’, ‘One Thing’, ‘Live While We’re Young’ and ‘Kiss You’, and admits his input into their songs is truly "amazing".
Russell recalled meeting Falk – who has also written for Demi Lovato, Nicki Minaj, Ellie Goulding, Madonna, Avicii, Ariana Grande and Jason Derulo – at Delta Goodrem’s party in Los Angeles and singing his praises, he said: "I played him one (track) and he listened to it and said, ‘I think I can improve that…’ We just really got on. It wasn’t until he was in Australia working with me in a studio that I’ve got on my farm he told me about his One Direction history. We bonded purely over the fact that he connected to a couple of songs I’d written. He’s amazing – he plays 23 instruments."
He added: "At one point I asked him, ‘Do you want to be in the band?’ And he was like, ‘Man, nobody’s asked me to be in a band for a long time, I’d love to.’ "
Crowe and Falk are joined in the group by Alan Doyle, Samantha Barks and Scott Grimes, and gushed about the spark they have when they perform together and thinks there is "something special" in audible in their music.
He added to The I Paper: "You can tell when you hear the songs that there’s something special going on. I think it’s to do with the energy that this particular set of personalities create when they’re on stage."
And Russell won’t be nervous singing in front of his fans when the band hit the road because he’s always felt "comfortable" as a musician.
He said: "It was strange for me when I got famous and people implied that I shouldn’t do music any more because now that I’m famous I shouldn’t try to be more famous. The fact that I’ve worked in bands since I was 14, I was in musical theatre from a young age, and all that, the stage is a place I’m extremely comfortable with."
