Tali Lennox has opened up about the tragic death of her boyfriend Ian Jones in 2015.
The 24-year-old daughter of Eurythmics singer Annie Lennox was left devastated when Ian died after their kayak capsized on the Hudson River in New York City and Ian was swept away by the powerful current.
While Tali was rescued by a nearby boat, her 32-year-old boyfriend’s body was discovered three days later and Tali admitted she still finds the ordeal surreal.
She told ES magazine: "It’s so surreal when something like that happens. So real and so surreal at the same time. Someone that you can be around all the time… in my case, it was my best friend. His family were basically my family in New York.
"I spent all my time with them. And then suddenly he’s not there. It’s completely bizarre to me."
Following his death, Tali took to Instagram to pay tribute to Ian.
She wrote: "My heart is shattered. My best friend, my soul mate, my partner in crime & creativity, the LOVE & LIGHT of my life is no longer with me. All the love that has been sent to me is giving me the strength to get through this. I know that he is so happy that I was safely rescued. Let us honor & celebrate this beautiful soul & keep following the light. (sic)"
At the time of Ian’s death, Dutchess County Sheriff Department’s Captain John Watterson said in a statement that the results of the autopsy "revealed no injuries or trauma to Mr. Jones’ body, and the findings are consistent with drowning".
He added: "There were no signs of criminal conduct or foul play found, and toxicology tests were performed. The search for Mr. Jones has now officially ended, and at this time his death is considered to be an accidental drowning with no criminal charges expected."
