Loose Women launches Lighten the Load Hero award

‘Loose Women’ has partnered with Mind charity to launch Lighten the Load Hero award.
The popular ITV chat show has joined forces with the organisation, and their latest campaign will see them honour those who help relatives, friends or colleagues battling with mental health problems.
The award will recognise a carer for one singular moment that proved their kind-hearted nature, or a culmination of things they’ve done to help another suffering, or to someone who has opened up about their personal issues and has encouraged others to speak out about their own problems.
The programme’s editor, Sally Shelford, is "thrilled" with the show’s collaboration with the organisation.
She said: "We’re thrilled to join forces with Mind to create a very special award at this year’s Mind Media Awards."
The title was inspired by the show’s Lighten the Load campaign, which launched last year and saw the programme gain a Mind Media Award in 2016 for their contribution to raising awareness to mental health issues.
The show’s previous movement saw the hosts, which include Ruth Langsford, Andrea McLean, Christine Lampard and Katie Price, encourage their daytime viewers to openly talk about the internal issues they are faced with, and to urge others to listen to those experiencing mental health problems.
However, the Lighten the Load Hero award plans to acknowledge those who have put ‘Loose Women’s previous plan into action and have made a positive impact in someone else’s life.
The Lighten the Load Hero gong will be presented to the worthy winners at the Mind Media Awards at the ODEON Cinema in London’s Leicester Square on November 13.
