The Weakest Link to be revived

The ‘Weakest Link’ is set to be revived later this year.
The popular quiz show, fronted by Anne Robinson, hasn’t been seen on television screens since 2012, but bosses are hoping to bring it back for a celebrity special for ‘Children in Need’ in November and then make it a permanent fixture in 2018.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "’The Weakest Link’ was one of the most exciting and original quizzes in television history, and left a huge void when it came off air.
"Nothing has really replaced it so the prospect of its return is really exciting."
The programme, which made its debut in 2000 and was licensed to over 70 countries, used to air at teatime every weeknight but producers are currently toying with the idea of making it a primetime Saturday night series.
The insider explained: "This time around, it will be a celebrities at the helm which will really give it a fresh and fun new feel. Terms have been agreed in principle, and the BBC are hopeful of attracting some great – albeit brave – celeb names."
And it looks like things are moving along in the right direction as Anne – who made a name for herself as the "queen of mean" – has confirmed she’s been in talks with the BBC about reviving the show full time after the charity special hits screens this year.
She told the publication: "I’ve been chatting to the BBC controller of Entertainment who has had the idea of reviving the show. Who knows? I’m a bit on the old side for television and I can’t bake cakes. But I’m quite good at marinating my tongue in acid."
