Danny-Boy Hatchard was unimpressed with EastEnders exit

Danny-Boy Hatchard was disheartened with his alter-ego Lee Carter’s exit from ‘EastEnders’.
The 25-year-old actor portrayed Danny Dyer’s [Mick Carter] son on the BBC soap from 2014 until earlier this year, but he wasn’t pleased with how "little attention" sacked executive producer Sean O’Connor paid to writing his character out of the show.
He told The Sun newspaper: "He could have left a little more attention to detail. I feel it got a little brushed off.
"It was Sean’s decision and I had to respect that.
"But if I had written it I’d have written it differently."
Lee battled with depression and was close to attempting suicide in December, before he walked out on his wife Whitney leaving her with just a note.
His last scenes saw him return to Albert Square to say goodbye to his father.
Despite his departure, Danny said in February that he wouldn’t rule out returning to Walford in the future.
He said: "I feel it’s the right time for me to leave.
"But it’s bye for now, not forever.
"If Lee was to be killed off I would be upset and that would be the end of the road.
"I think it’s never a blessing when a character is killed off."
Danny’s comments about the show’s former boss come after Ross Kemp – who portrayed bad boy Grant Mitchell in the long-running soap – said he thinks Sean made the right decision quitting his executive producer role, a position he’s only held for a year, last month because he was destroying his staff.
He said: "He reminded me of a sort of schoolteacher of a kind of third-rate public school.
"That’s not really what you want for the cast of ‘EastEnders’. You write it well, you cast it well and you do the right things — and you don’t abuse certain members, i.e. you don’t work them into the f****** ground, which is what happened. The cast are earning more than the executive producers, which makes it a very odd power balance, doesn’t it?"
