Samia Longchambon wants to see an "Eileen vs Gail-style scrap" between her ‘Coronation Street’ character and her co-star Catherine Tyldesley.
The 34-year-old actress – who portrays Maria Connor in the longstanding soap – is desperate for a brawl to break out on the cobbled streets of Weatherfield between her character and Eva Price, which will rival the spats between Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) and Gail McIntyre (Helen Worth), after Eva finds out her on-screen boyfriend, Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward), has been enjoying an affair with the hairdresser.
Speaking about her hopes for her future plot line to Inside Soap magazine, she said: "Eva should probably just beat up Maria. I’d love to see an Eileen vs Gail-style scrap."
But Samia thinks the best way for the busty blonde factory worker to get revenge on her on-screen best friend is to hack off all of her dark locks and to make snide remarks about her appearance.
She said: "Oh God, probably by cutting Mari’s hair or something like that.
"She’s already started on her in episodes we’re filming – Eva says she has cankles in one scene, which I was really upset about."
However, Samia doesn’t think Maria will stand a chance in a fight with Eva.
She said: "I don’t fancy Maria’s chances against a right hook from Eva".
And the star feels guilty Maria has struck up a romance with Aidan behind Eva’s back because she genuinely doesn’t want to "hurt" the blonde beauty.
She said: "Maria doesn’t want to hurt Eva at all, and she’s not doing this to be vindictive – she genuinely loves Aidan and thinks she’s better suited to him."
Meanwhile Samia, who has appeared on the programme for almost 20 years, has no plans to quit ‘Coronation Street’, although her character "frustrates the life out of [her]."
Speaking about her future, Samia said: "I don’t know, because I don’t like thinking that far ahead, but I’m going to be here for the foreseeable. I love Maria, even though she frustrates the life out of me – and I love the job too."
