Jeff Brazier is returning to the island where he filmed ‘Shipwrecked’ for his 40th birthday.
The 38-year-old presenter found fame when he took part in the tough reality TV show in 2001, and he is looking forward to making a return to Fiji in very different circumstances in two years time.
He said: "When I went on ‘Shipwrecked’ in 2001, we stayed on an island called Yaukuve in Fiji. It’s such a beautiful place.
"It turns out that it’s now a six-star resort called Kokomo Yaukuve. I think I’ll do it for my 40th birthday."
Jeff admitted his experiences on the show – in which he and 15 others stayed on the tropical island without any luxuries – mean he is always furious when watching ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ and the campmates start complaining about their meagre rations and limited food selection.
He said: "I lived off yams for seven weeks when I was on ‘Shipwrecked’. We had to find them, clean them, and cook them.
"When I got to the final, we were given rice, which felt like the biggest luxury. When I see people complaining about rice on ‘I’m A Celebrity…’, it always makes me angry."
Jeff loves going on holiday with his sons Bobby, 14, and 13-year-old Freddy – whose mother was his late former partner Jade Goody – and will particularly treasure the most recent trip they undertook together.
He told Heat magazine: "The last holiday I had was to San Francisco with my boys, which was one of the most special trips we’ve ever had.
"We didn’t pre-plan it. The only thing I booked was a trip to Alcatraz, but we also did the Golden Gate Bridge and Yosemite National Park for the day – it was like the Lake District times 100."
