Sir Bruce Forsyth’s wife wants to compete on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 89-year-old legend may have spent over a decade hosting the ballroom and latin show until he was forced to step down in 2014 due to poor health, but it looks like the programme could be about to come back into his life as his spouse Wilnelia Forsyth-Johnson has teased that she’d love to do the festive special this year.
Speaking at the Butterfly Ball in London, Wilnelia, 59, is quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: "I would love to do the Christmas show.
"Bruce is doing well. He and I will definitely be watching ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ this year. I think the new judge [Shirley Ballas] will be fantastic."
As well as eyeing up the BBC One dancing show, Wilnelia has been looking after her husband after he underwent keyhole surgery in 2015 after suffering two life-threatening aneurysms and then struck down with a severe chest infection this year.
The insider said at the time: "Wilnelia was by his bedside virtually the entire time, and has been amazing. Now Bruce just wants to get home, and slowly build his strength back up again. He remains in great spirits."
Meanwhile, this year’s series will be slightly different from previous years as head judge Len Goodman has stepped down and replaced with Shirley Ballas.
She said: "I am so excited and over the moon to have been given this wonderful opportunity. I can’t wait to get in to the ballroom and be part of the incredible and respected judging panel. ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ is so loved by the British public, I have always been a massive fan. I just can’t wait!"
And the 56-year-old star – who is nicknamed the ‘Queen of Latin’ – will certainly give the other judges Bruno Tonioli, Darcey Bussell and Craig Revel Horwood a run for their money as she’s one of the most decorated professional dancers in the world.
