Jackie Woodburne is desperate to land a role in ‘EastEnders’.
The ‘Neighbours’ legend – who is known for portraying Susan Kennedy in the long-running Australian soap – has admitted she’d love nothing more than to move to the UK and nab a part on the BBC One show alongside Danny Dyer and Steve McFadden.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, the brunette actress said: "I’d love to do a gritty soap like ‘EastEnders’. It would be terrific and it would be so different to what I’m used to doing on ‘Neighbours’.
"The two shows obviously have different classifications, so the contrast would be fun. We film pretty constantly on ‘Neighbours’ at the moment so I don’t have the opportunity.
"But I do love the UK. You get a lot of roles for older women, which is great. They’re not always grandmas, they’re accomplished women. That’s something that appeals to me."
However, although Jackie – who was born in Northern Ireland but emigrated to Australia when she was three years old – would like to spread her wings and try acting over here, she is grateful that ‘Neighbours’ bosses are still giving her great storylines.
She explained: "It’s great to still get great storylines. I’m very happy at ‘Neighbours’. For now I’m very happy to there. I love the people I work with. When I first started I thought a year on the show would be a nice job. I never dreamed I’d still be doing it 23 years on."
