Kate Beckinsale wins Best British Actress prize at London Critics’ Circle Film Awards

Kate Beckinsale took home the prize for Best British/Irish Actress at this year’s London Critics’ Circle Film Awards on Sunday night (22.01.17).
The 43-year-old star beat the likes of Naomie Harris, Rebecca Hall, Ruth Negga and Hayley Squires to the accolade for her performance in as Lady Susan Vernon in period comedy film ‘Love & Friendship’, which was just one of her big roles of 2016 with her also appearing in action sequel ‘Underworld: Blood Wars’ and thriller ‘The Disappointments Room’.
Although Naomie missed out on that prize she did go home with the Best Supporting Actress of the Year award for her role in ‘Moonlight’.
Andrew Garfield won in the Best British/Irish Actor category for his work in ‘Silence’ and ‘Hacksaw Ridge’, while Mahershala Ali and Tom Bennett shared the Best Supporting Actor of the Year prize.
Casey Affleck – the younger brother of Ben Affleck – received more awards success for his film ‘Manchester By The Sea’ as he was named Actor of the Year and the win follows his Golden Globe victory earlier this month.
Following its incredible haul of seven gongs at the Golden Globes, ‘La La Land’ continued its run of wins by being named Best Film at the ceremony which took place at the May Fair Hotel.
