Pippa Middleton’s future brother-in-law Spencer Matthews to compete on ‘The Jump’

Pippa Middleton’s future brother-in-law Spencer Matthews has signed up to risky television show ‘The Jump’.
The 27-year-old reality star – who is the younger brother of Pippa’s racing driver fiancé James Matthews – will take part in the riskiest show on British television as he joins a host of other celebrities taking on dangerous winter sports.
‘The Jump’ – which will be shown on Channel 4 for six weeks and starts on February 2 – will see contestants battle against each other in sports such as the skeleton, ski cross, bobsleigh, downhill slalom and snowskates.
At the end of each week, the two celebrities who fail to impress the viewing public must then go head to head in a live ski jump, which has seen numerous injuries over the years.
Viewers demanded the show be pulled off screen last year after Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle broke her back, swimmer Rebecca Adlington dislocated her shoulder and actress Tina Hobley fractured her arm while taking part in the competition last January.
However, the programme was granted another series, and show bosses insist there will be less risks this time as much of the show will be pre-recorded.
A source said: "The celebrities flew out yesterday and will be filming for at least a month before the show starts. The producers don’t want to risk anything this year and pre-recording most stuff makes it a lot easier.
"There have been a few injuries on camera in the past – not just in training – so they want to avoid those situations. It also means the celebs won’t take bigger risks as the adrenaline won’t be pumping like it does on the live shows."
If Spencer manages to get through the show without injury, he will see his brother James and Pippa – who is the younger sister of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge – tie the knot in May.
