Michael Fassbender: Assassin’s Creed isn’t like Star Wars

Michael Fassbender says ‘Assassin’s Creed’ is "not like" ‘Star Wars’.
The 39-year-old actor stars as Callum Lynch in the upcoming movie adaptation of the popular gaming franchise, but says the action packed feature doesn’t have a distinct sense of good and evil, as both sides can be "hypocritical".
Speaking to Empire Magazine, the star said: "It’s not like ‘Star Wars’, where you’ve got the light side and the dark side.
"This is very ambiguous morally. Both of these parties – the Templars and the Assassins – are hypocritical at certain points. There are not clear-cut good and bad characters. I think it’s a little more provocative for an audience to see that. You know, ‘Should I be feeling that? Should I be backing this character?’ That’s always fun."
Meanwhile, Michael recently admitted it had been 16 years since he last sat down and played a video game, despite starring in a movie based on the virtual experience.
He said: "The last time I had a serious stint with video games was 2000. There was a period of time where I was working in this warehouse at night. I would come home in the morning and just sit down in front of this racing game – I can’t even remember the name of it – and play it over and over."
‘Assassin’s Creed’ will follow the story of Callum as he discovers he is a descendant of the secret Assassins Society and delves into his past. He must then learn the skills of a killer to fight the Templars – historic enemies of the Assassins Society – in the modern world.
The movie is expected to hit screens on January 6 2017.
