Louie Spence hit ‘rock bottom’ with depression

Louie Spence’s battle with depression "hit rock bottom" two years ago.
The eccentric choreographer may be known for his flamboyant happy-go-lucky approach to life but he has admitted his life hasn’t always been an easy ride as he was forced to seek help for his negative thoughts and frantic mind 24 months ago.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’ on Thursday (24.11.16), he said: "I’m not shy by any means, but I have always suffered from anxiety from when I was a child. My anxiety became uncontrollable, it controlled every moment of my life. It turned to depression.
"I hit rock bottom, I couldn’t cope any longer. It’s beaten me trying to deal with it. My life isn’t always like that (bubbly). People presume I’m always like that (happy)."
The 47-year-old dancer has tried cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), hypnotherapy and therapists in the past but now relies on medication to keep his emotions in check.
He explained: "I went and got help. I waited 45 years… it was the best thing I’ve ever done! Part of therapy for me is I need to entertain, it’s a relief."
Louie recently took part in training for a 146km endurance ride through the Alps – the highest and most extensive mountain range system that lies entirely in Europe – alongside Lucy Mecklenburgh, Hugo Taylor and Jodie Kidd for ‘Celebs de Tour’.
He has admitted the three-month training session, which was carried out by Olympic gold-winning cyclist Victoria Pendleton, was so draining – both physically and mentally – and, at one point, he was convinced he was drop dead at any moment.
He said: "There was a point I thought that I was gonna die."
