Danny Mac: I won’t strip for Strictly Come Dancing

Danny Mac refused to completely unbutton his shirt on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in order to "maintain dignity".
The 28-year-old actor has been doing consistently well on the BBC dance competition, but has said he refuses to show more skin as he says he’s "there to dance".
When BBC producers asked him to completely unbutton his shirt for his rumba – a dance which is known for being sexy – Danny insisted he keep one button done up.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, the former ‘Hollyoaks’ star said: "I’m weary of just stripping my kit off – I’m there to dance. With the rumba they said it had to be quite sexy, so would I mind undoing a few buttons?
"They wanted my shirt to go completely open, but I said, ‘no, can we just keep a button done up.’
"And I think it worked better, because I maintained that dignity, and also you’re dancing which isn’t the most comfortable feeling anyway, so the last thing you want to do is have your shirt wide open.
"I don’t think having my top off is going to help me get through, it’s about the dancing."
And it isn’t just his clothing that the star – who along with professional partner Otlile Mabuse scored his first perfect 10 last week – has a problem getting his head around, as he also suffers from intense nerves before the show each week.
He said previously: "I’m a great sleeper, nothing wakes me up, so to be woken up at 4am by fear of a ‘Strictly…’ dance is really disconcerting.
"I get really nervous. I don’t show it, but that comes down to the acting and having to perform.
"It’s strange because it comes out of nowhere, but the good thing is that at least I know why I get it. I know it’s because of the dance, as opposed to having anxiety and not knowing why."
