Daisy Ridley has teased ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ will explore Rey’s parentage.
The 24-year-old actress was quizzed as to whether she supports the fan theory that her character is related to Obi-Wan Kenobi because of her costume and similar personality traits, and suggested all will be revealed when the next installment of the franchise is released in 2017.
She said: "We will see in a year. Just sit tight on that question."
The upcoming spin-off movie, ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ – which is set after ‘Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith’ but before the original ‘Star Wars’ – will feature Felicity Jones as new character Jyn, and Daisy thinks it is possible that the newcomer and Rey are related in some way.
Asked if Jyn could be Rey’s mother, she told Vulture: "I mean, I think historically it wouldn’t work, because she is … Darth Vader is there … so she would ultimately be my great-grandma; no, she would be my grandma.
"I mean it could happen, especially in a galaxy far, far away."
Though the brunette beauty already knows how ‘Rogue One’ ends, she can’t wait to see the film because she has "no idea" what else features in the movie.
She said: "I am just excited to see how it is, because I have heard it is so so different, and its own thing.
"I have no idea what happens – I know the ending, but I have no idea really what happens in it."
Daisy also revealed she has a secret talent – as a "wolf whisperer".
She said: "Fun story. I went on a moonlit hike with wolves on Sunday at a wolf sanctuary outside of LA.
"We were walking with Willow, she is the very sedate one, and I went to say, ‘Hi.’ You had to be super-careful. She put her face in my face, and it was amazing.
"So I would like to say that animals respond well to me. Wolf whisperer — that sounds like that could be my name."
