Radiohead to headline Glastonbury 2017

Radiohead are the first act confirmed to headline Glastonbury Festival next year.
The ‘Creep’ hitmakers – consisting of Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, Colin Greenwood, Phil Selway and Ed O’Brien -will perform at the music extravaganza at Worthy Farm, Somerset, south west England on Friday June 23.
The festival teased fans by sharing a picture of one of the fields on site with the band’s logo.
Alongside the photo, the wrote: "Friday 23 June 2017 @radiohead (sic)"
And festival organiser Emily Eavis confirmed the news on Instagram, writing: "YES! Radiohead will be back at Worthy Farm and we really can’t wait."
It is the indie rock group’s third time headlining the famous Pyramid Stage, the last being in 2003 and they made their debut in 1997.
However, in 2011 they stormed the Park Stage with a surprise set.
Radiohead – who recently released their critically-acclaimed ninth studio LP ‘A Moon Shaped Pool’ – were favourites to head up the main stage along with The Stones Roses and Lady Gaga.
It follows three successful sell-out shows at London’s Roundhouse in support of the new record.
Meanwhile, Daft Punk were also rumoured to be headlining this year.
However, Emily poured cold water on speculation.
She said: "As ever, 99 per cent of the rumours are untrue."
And Kings of Leon recently expressed their desire to play before the festival has its annual break in 2018.
Singer Caleb Followill recently said: "We love Glastonbury.
"I think that was the first festival we played in Europe. Do they still do it where it’s on one year, off one year to the grass grow? … OK, then we’ll have to get on it in 2017. I’ll have to text Mr Eavis."
