Miranda Hart has joined the ‘Nutcracker’ live-action movie.
The comedienne will play the role of a fairy named Dew Drop in the Disney film version of the classic ballet, which is titled ‘The Nutcracker and the Four Realms’.
Confirming her part in the movie on Twitter, Hart tweeted: "I won’t lie, I am very excited to be playing a fairy. (Natural casting) (sic)"
The 43-year-old actress will star alongside the likes of Morgan Freeman, Keira Knightley and Mackenzie Foy as well as ballerina Misty Copeland, Variety reports.
Hart’s role as Dew Drop will be the star’s second major Hollywood role as she previously impressed audiences as Nancy B. Artingstall in hit movie ‘Spy’ alongside Melissa McCarthy and Jason Statham.
The revamped version of the classic ‘Nutcracker’ will be directed by Lasse Hallstrom.
Ashleigh Powell will pen the script for the movie, while Mark Gordon will produce and Lindy Goldstein is to be executive producer.
The motion picture will be based upon ETA’s Hoffman 1816 story ‘The Nutcracker and the Mouse King’ and will involve professional ballerinas.
It will tell the story of Clara (Foy) who is given a Nutcracker doll which comes to life on Christmas Eve, leads her into a magical world of living toys and battles the evil mouse king.
Knightley will portray the Sugar Plum Fairy in the movie.
