Queen Elizabeth’s cars for sale

Luxury cars previously owned by Queen Elizabeth and the late Princesses Margaret and Diana will be sold next month.
The 90-year-old monarch was gifted a Mulsanne limousine by Bentley in 2012 and the luxury green vehicle – which boasts armour protection, reinforced tyres and walnut burr veneer waist rails baring the royal crest – has been valued at £235,000 ahead of
Silverstone Auctions’ Classic Motor Show Sale which takes place at the NEC in Birmingham on November 12 and 13.
And a second car that belonged to the queen, a 2001 Daimler Supercharged V8 built to her own personal specification – including a specially-designed armrest with a sliding holder created to hold her specific type of handbag – should sell for £60,000.
Diana’s 1994 Audi Cabriolet – which she was occasionally photographed driving with her young sons Princes William and Harry – is also up for sale, with the convertible green sports car bearing a price tag of £50,000.
Princess Margaret’s 1980 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith II has a staggering price tag of £110,000, while a 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560 SEL that was owned by Jordan’s royal couple King Hussein and Queen Noor should sell for between £25,000 – £30,000.
The royal vehicles are part of a private 12-car collection that are being sold, with other cars formerly belonging to former Prime Minister David Cameron, ‘Rocket Man’ hitmaker Sir Elton John and ‘Pop Idol’ winner Will Young, late filmmaker Michael Winner, and Sir Paul McCartney’s PA John Hammell also part of the sale.
Nick Whale, managing director of Silverstone Auctions, said: "It’s an honour for Silverstone Auctions to offer cars with such amazing provenance, cars that belonged to HM The Queen, as well as being owned by some of the most influential personalities of the 20th Century.
"We anticipate a huge amount of interest in these cars from across the globe. These cars have been wonderfully cared for over their lifetimes and we look forward to finding them new homes."
