Drake’s ‘One Dance’ started life as a song by rising British hip hop star Kyla.
The 29-year-old superstar rapper phoned up Kyla – who also sings the female vocals on the number one song – and said he was a fan of her song ‘Do You Mind’ and asked her he could sample the track.
Asked how she came to sing on the hit song, Kyla exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "Apparently he liked my track that I did seven years ago called ‘Do You Mind’ and he decided to do something with it. So I got a random email from Sony ATV so I range them and couldn’t believe it."
Kyla – who was fairly unknown until met with the ‘Hotline Bling’ hitmaker – got on like a house on fire with Drake and said he gave her lots of advice about the music industry, most importantly, to enjoy every moment of it and never "hold back".
She said: "He is the nicest bloke you will ever meet. I met him and we had a really good chat and he gave me lots of good advice.
"He told me to enjoy what you are doing and have fun with and don’t hold back and be yourself."
