Sunetra Sarker has joined the cast of ‘Broadchurch’.
The 43-year-old actress only waved goodbye to ‘Casualty’ four months ago but she has already landed her next job and is set to star in the third series of the popular crime drama.
It’s not yet known what role the brunette beauty will play but it’s believed she will have a fairly large part as she was spotted filming scenes with the lead Jodie Whittaker – who plays Beth Latimer – in Clevedon, Somerset, recently.
And Sunetra – who was known for playing chain-smoking doctor Zoe Hanna in the medical drama for nine years – isn’t the only big name attached to the series as Sir Lenny Henry has also been spotted filming the eight-part drama.
Executive producer Chris Chibnall said earlier this year: "This is the final chapter of ‘Broadchurch’.
"We have one last story to tell, featuring both familiar faces and new characters. I hope it’s a compelling and emotional farewell to a world and show that means so much to me."
The story of the next installment is being kept tightly under wraps for the time being but it’s believed it will explore the consequences of a serious sexual assault.
Victoria Fea, ITV’s controller of drama, said: "It will be stylishly written, provocative and thought provoking. We’re pleased with the direction [the producers have] taken this series and the extraordinary cast they’ve assembled."
Meanwhile, David Tennant and Olivia Colman will return as lead detectives Hardy and Miller and will be joined by Julie Hesmondhalgh, Sarah Parish and Charlie Higson.
