Natalie Pinkham’s organs ‘shut down’ after birth

Natalie Pinkham’s organs started to "shut down" after she gave birth to her daughter two months ago.
The presenter welcomed her second child Willow into the world at the end of June but, although the delivery was plain sailing, her recovery after undergoing a ‘natural caesarean’ didn’t go according to plan and she was left critically ill.
She explained: "The next day [after surgery], I felt amazing, then the day after I woke and everything had stopped working; my bladder, bowels, intestines.
"Basically my body went into shock and I developed post-operative ileus [paralysis of the intestines], then post-birth pre-eclampsia again [as she did with her first child].
"I was getting thinner but my belly was getting bigger. I looked nine months pregnant again.
"I couldn’t eat, I was on a drip to keep hydrated and lost so much weight. I was in hospital for a week all wired up."
And the 37-year-old beauty’s recovery was made even worse by the fact she couldn’t pick up her 18-month-old son Wilf.
She explained: "The thing that broke me was I couldn’t pick him up for six weeks because I was in so much pain."
Meanwhile, Natalie hasn’t had the easiest time with both her pregnancies as she battled with pre-eclampsia with Wilf and then tragically lost Willow’s twin sister in the early stages of the pregnancy, and now she’s decided not to have any more children because she believes that would be testing fate.
Speaking to Hello! magazine, she said: "But the first time things went wrong with Wilf, I thought, ‘That’s weird.’ The second time, ‘Okay there’s a pattern here.’ The third you’re asking for trouble, aren’t you?
"I feel lucky to have two children, a boy and a girl. I would be pushing that luck if I went for a third."
