Helen McCrory is set to star in a new political thriller drama.
The ‘Peaky Blinders’ actress has been lined up to portray solicitor Emma Blunt in the new six-part series ‘Fearless’.
She said: "When l was at drama school l was inspired by ‘Prime Suspect’, watching as Britain led the way in creating strong female characters to lead their dramas. l’m thrilled to be leading ITV’s new drama – it’s a thriller that starts deceptively small, then begins crossing borders to different cultures and continents … I can’t wait to start filming."
‘Fearless’, which is penned by ‘Homeland’ writer Patrick Harbinson, will see Emma investigate the brutal killing of a schoolgirl in East Anglia and trying to free the man she thinks was wrongly convicted of the girl’s murder.
However, as she digs deeper into the chilling case, she begins to realise the police and the intelligence services at home and abroad want to stop her uncovering the truth.
Patrick said: "I’m delighted that Helen McCrory has agreed to play Emma. She is a complex and contradictory character, and I am incredibly lucky to have someone of Helen’s wit, warmth and intelligence bringing her to life."
Helen, 47, is no stranger to dramas as she’s appeared in the gangster television series since 2010 and has had roles in big blockbusters such as ‘Skyfall’ and ‘Harry Potter’.
Filming for ‘Fearless’, which will air on ITV next year, will kick off in London and East Anglia in September 2016.
