Liv Tyler’s breastfeeding selfie was originally only meant to be seen by her fiance.
The 39-year-old actress shared a photo on Instagram last month of herself nursing her daughter Lula Rose, now four weeks old, and she’d originally captured the intimate moment to show Dave Gardner, but she was so pleased she didn’t look like a "beast" in the picture, she decided to post it for her fans to see.
She said: "Honestly, I took that picture for David because we were in bed snuggling and he was at work."
A few days later she looked at the picture again and decided to share it.
She explained to People magazine: "I was in that sort of blissful mum mode and amazed that I didn’t look like a beast because I felt like one! There should be no stigma — it’s a very beautiful and natural thing."
The ‘Leftovers’ star – who also has Milo, 11, from her previous marriage to Royston Langdon and 16-month-old Sailor with Dave – is "completely blissed out" with her extended family.
She said: "I’m completely blissed out. Sitting with all the children and David, I literally keep pinching myself, going, ‘Am I dreaming? This is amazing.’ "
And she is also pleased that both Milo and Dave’s son Gray, nine, are keen to help with the younger children.
She said: "[Milo] was so helpful when I was pregnant, and he’s just the sweetest.
"The age gap is great because he’s so responsible, and so is Gray, David’s son. They help us take care of Sailor and the baby. They love to hold her and snuggle her, it’s very sweet.
"This is definitely one where everyone is chipping in. The big boys can hold her, and it’s so sweet."
But while little Sailor is also smitten with Lula, Liv and Dave have to keep an eye on him to ensure he doesn’t accidentally do any damage.
She said: We’re just trying to keep [Lula] alive!
"He wants to pull on her little bassinet. I have to watch him so closely, but he says ‘baabyyy’ — one of his first clear words, which is cute."
She adds,
