Adriana Lima carries Olympic Torch in Brazil

Adriana Lima was honoured to carry the Olympic torch in her home country of Brazil on Thursday night (04.08.16).
The 35-year-old Victoria’s Secret Angel was thrilled she got to do her bit by lighting the flaming-cauldron in Praça Mauá in the Olympic Boulevard in Rio de Janeiro before the relay continued through to the famous Christ the Redeemer statue.
Taking to her Twitter account to share her pride, she wrote: "Grateful to experience this incredible honor and dream to carry the #Rio2016 Olympic torch in my home country Brazil (sic)"
Adriana – who was born in Salvador – was overwhelmed by the experience and no shed a tear or two.
The flame will be used to open the 2016 Rio Olympics at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro at midnight on Friday (05.08.16).
And Adriana is not the only Brazilian model getting into the Olympic spirit, Gisele Bundchen – who is from Três de Maio – has been sharing her adventures in Rio.
Taking to Instagram on Friday morning (05.08.16) ahead of tonight’s ceremony she shared a picture of a beach in Rio.
She captioned the pic: "Good morning Brazill!!!! #Rio #Olympics2016 (sic)"
The launch of the summer games will see a range of pop stars and celebrities in attendance including award-winning singers Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil.
