Amanda Holden cast in The Worst Witch

Amanda Holden has been cast in CBBC’s ‘The Worst Witch.’
The 45-year-old actress is set to play a headmistress called Miss Pentangle in the forthcoming remake of the popular TV series that aired between 1998 and 2001 and was based on a series of books written and illustrated by Jill Murphy.
Speaking to the Radio Times magazine, Amanda said: "I’m absolutely thrilled to be part of ‘The Worst Witch’.
"It’s such a fantastic, magical world with incredible characters that you can completely lose yourself in."
The blonde beauty’s alter-ego will visit Cackle’s Academy, home of pupil Mildred Hubble, for a spelling bee competition.
And Amanda is well aware that she might be subject to some gentle ribbing from her family for playing a witch, but firmly believes the end result will be worth it.
She said: "I’m sure there will be some jokes from my family about me playing a witch but I can’t wait to sit down with them and watch CBBC bring to life the wonderful world of Cackle’s Academy,"
Amanda will join a cast that includes Bella Ramsay as Mildred, Clare Higgins as Miss Cackle, Wendy Craig as Miss Bat, Raquel Cassidy as Miss Hardbroom and Nicolas Jones as The Great Wizard.
‘The Worst Witch’ will air CBBC in early 2017.
