Beyoncé didn’t like her wedding dress.
The 62-year-old mother Tina Knowles – who designed the ‘Lemonade’ hitmaker’s gown for the marital ceremony in August 2008 – has admitted her 34-year-old daughter has hinted she wasn’t a fan of her strapless ensemble with the ruffled train, and doesn’t want her mother to make her four-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter’s wedding attire in the future.
Speaking about her creation on ‘Today’ show, which has since been reported on US Weekly website, Tina said: "She was so sweet to let me do that.
"She [Beyoncé] came back later one day and she said, ‘You know, when my daughter gets married, I’m going to let her pick out her own dress’. Maybe she wasn’t so excited about it at the time, but she’s a sweetheart."
Despite her distaste towards her mother’s creation Beyoncé – who received the Fashion Icon gong at this year’s CFDA Awards – praised her parent for the creative masterpieces she made for her and the Destiny’s Child band members.
Speaking previously, the mother of one said: "When we were starting out in Destiny’s Child, high-end labels, they didn’t really want to dress four black, country, curvy, girls.
"We couldn’t afford designer dresses and couture. My mother was rejected from every showroom in New York but like my grandmother, she used her talent and her creativity and to give her children their dreams."
Beyoncé explained that her first costumes were made by her mother Tina and her uncle Johnny, because high-end labels were not interested in working with Destiny’s Child, who went on to become a chart-topping band.
She shared: "My mother actually designed my wedding dress, my prom dress, my first CFDA Award dress, my first Grammy dress. And the list goes on and on. This to me is the true power and potential of fashion. It’s a tool for finding your own identity, expression, truth. It transcends style, and is a time capsule for all of our greatest milestones."
