Jess Glynne on the ‘need for more women at festivals’

Jess Glynne feels there is a real lack of women headlining music festivals.
The ‘Not Letting Go’ hitmaker performs at Glastonbury Festival at Worthy Farm in Somerset, South West England, on Friday (24.06.16) and has vowed to bring "girl power" to the music extravaganza, which only has a select few female artists performing including headliner Adele, Ellie Goulding and PJ Harvey.
She said: "It’s all men! Lots of testosterone, and I’m gonna bowl in there with all the femininity there is. Girl power, man!"
The flame-haired beauty’s comments come after she performed at the Isle of Wight Festival earlier this month, where she said the entire lineup on the main stage on the day she performed consisted of male artists.
She told The Times newspaper: "Every headliner, plus everyone playing on my stage that day, was a guy. I was so shocked. There needs to be more women. There’s so many female acts but not all of them want to do festivals".
The 26-year-old singer feels that women are too "afraid" of standing up for themselves on the matter because they fear they will be seen as a "diva".
She said: "[Female Artists] are sometimes afraid to be strong because you come across as being a diva. If you’re tired and you don’t want someone to take a photo, you’re not being a p**k. I never signed my record deal and said part of my job was to do selfies."
Jess previously said that she feels women in music "should be celebrated" as much as their male counterparts.
She told BANG Showbiz: "It’s just as important as having anyone [headlining]. We should be celebrated just as much as the next person."
