Sir Lenny Henry joins Broadchurch cast

Sir Lenny Henry has joined the cast of ‘Broadchurch’.
The 57-year-old actor and comedian has become the latest big name to join the eight-part ITV drama series, which also stars David Tennant and Olivia Colman.
Executive producer Chris Chibnall said: "This is the final chapter of ‘Broadchurch’.
"We have one last story to tell, featuring both familiar faces and new characters. I hope it’s a compelling and emotional farewell to a world and show that means so much to me."
The new series explores the consequences of a serious sexual assault and is based on a year of research with organisations that specialise in dealing with victims of sexual assault.
Victoria Fea, ITV’s controller of drama, promised the new series will be typically "stylishly written, provocative and thought provoking".
She added: "We’re pleased with the direction [the producers have] taken this series and the extraordinary cast they’ve assembled."
Meanwhile, executive producer Jane Featherstone said she is looking forward to reuniting with Chris and concluding the drama series in fitting style.
She said: "’Broadchurch’ has been an important part of my life and I am so delighted and privileged to be working with Chris and the team again as we embark on the very final series.
"We will return to the town and characters we know so well as they find themselves caught up in a new and compelling story which will test the strength of the community and the people who live there, and will, I hope, be a fitting end to this trilogy."
In April, meanwhile, it was confirmed that former ‘Coronation Street’ actress Julie Hesmondhalgh had joined the cast for the final series of ‘Broadchurch’.
The actress starred as factory worker Hayley Cropper in the long-running soap until her death two years ago.
