Antonio Banderas has boarded the cast of ‘Salty’.
The 55-year-old actor’s next project will be Simon West’s highly anticipated action comedy adapted from the novel of the same name by Mark Haskell Smith and is excited to start work on the film which moulds all of his "passions".
Speaking about the movie, the star said: "Finally, three of my passions together, cinema, music and humour."
Antonio will play a super rich but ageing rock star called Turk Henry – who is also a reformed sex addict married to a supermodel – who takes a holiday to South America with his wife, who is kidnapped by pirates, and soon discovers that Chile is probably the last place a recovering sex addict should go on vacation.
West – whose other credits include ‘Lara Croft: Tomb Raider’ and ‘Con Air’ and ‘The Expendables 2’ – wants the movie to have "energy" and "fun" like popular comedies ‘The Hangover’ and ‘Bridesmaids’ but says it will be fast paced like the action movies he’s helmed in the past.
He said: ”Films of this type like The Hangover and Bridesmaids are perfect examples of how popular this genre can be. I am going to shoot Salty in a style that will exude energy, fun and glamour with elaborate and exciting action sequences very much in the vein of my previous films. With Antonio on board, it’s going to be a phenomenal picture."
Though the film will be a change in tone for ‘The Mask of Zorro’ star, when he begins filming in June he’ll be returning to location of his last movie, the survival drama ‘The 33’, which is based on the true story of the 2010 Chilean mining disaster.
