Gwyneth Paltrow gives her children pizza more often than she "should".
The 43-year-old actress – who has daughter Apple, 11, and son Moses, 10, with ex-husband Chris Martin – tries to serve healthy and "clean" food at home because she can’t control what the kids eat when they are elsewhere, but she insists she isn’t too strict with her dietary rules.
She said: "We try to eat this way most of the time and then have treats along the way.
"For example, the kids get a Coke of the week, and we have pizza more than we should. But I have tried to set it as the baseline for the way we eat.
"I can’t control what they eat from the school cafeteria, nor at their friend’ houses, so I try to keep it relatively clean when we’re at home."
And the whole family see the benefits when they eat well.
She said: "When we are healthier, we all have more energy, more stable moods and Moses’ eczema disappears."
The ‘Mortdecai’ actress tries to avoid gluten and dairy whenever she can because her whole family are intolerant to the foodstuffs, but she admits there are foods she craves when she cuts them out of her diet.
Asked what she misses, she said: "Bread and cheese."
Gwyneth – who is dating TV producer Brad Falchuk – insists her kids don’t feel deprived under her dietary rules as she still cooks healthy versions of what they think is junk food.
She told OK! magazine: "Everyone is on board. The kids don’t really notice the food at home is healthy, because they’re still having meatballs, chicken nuggets and dumplings."
