Eminem’s ex-wife says her 2015 DUI was a suicide attempt.
Kim Mathers, 41, who married the rapper in 1999 before divorcing in 2001 and briefly remarried him in 2005, admitted she deliberately drove her car into a pole after drinking alcohol and taking pills.
Speaking to Detroit radio show ‘Mojo in the Morning’, she said: "I sat at the end of a road where I knew no one else but myself would get hurt. Yes, I drank, I took pills and I aimed for a pole."
Kim revealed her suicide attempt after it was claimed that her court documents had been sealed because she was receiving preferential treatment.
She insisted they were sealed because they contained private medical information but she has now given permission for them to be made public.
She said: "Just because people think that we have money, that it makes us happy. Yeah we can pay bills, yeah we can get the kids everything they ask for, but you lose family, you lose friends."
Kim and Eminem have daughter Hailie, 20, together while Kim also has two other children. The former couple also adopted Kim’s late sister Dawn’s daughter Alaina, 22.
Speaking about the 43-year-old rapper, she said: "He has been real supportive. We are really close friends. We are just trying to raise our kids together and make it as normal for them as possible."
Dawn, Kim’s twin died at the Motor City Trailer Park in Detroit of a reported overdose and Kim shared a touching message about her "beautiful" sister who "lost her way".
She wrote: "Dawn was my sweet, beautiful sister who lost her way. I kept a light lit for her hoping she’d find her way back to me. I miss her and love her more than anything I could ever say. I wish she was here so I could hug her and tell her I love her. Half of me is gone and I will never feel whole again. She made me laugh and kept me on my toes. She was the best sister and friend in the world and I will miss her until we are together again. (sic)"
