‘Coronation Street’s Nick Tilsley is set to dump his soon-to-be wife Carla Connor just days before their wedding.
The businessman – portrayed by Ben Price – will leave his beautiful fiancée devastated after he calls off their nuptials in the week leading up to their big day after his anger problems – as a result of his brain injury last year – spiral out of control.
Speaking to the RadioTimes.co.uk, Ben said: "She’s exciting, sexy, powerful and it’s all those things that Nick’s attracted to. I also think there’s a part of Nick that wants to save her, but he’s not going to be that guy if his health deteriorates.
"So I think as soon as he decides he’s not going to be that guy, and then he starts to question their relationship … "The thing about Nick as a character is he’s not selfish enough that he thinks I’m going to marry her anyway.
"He thinks that she shouldn’t be with him, that she should be with someone who can care for her and he believes he won’t have the capacity to do that."
But Carla – played by Alison King – isn’t ready to let the love of her life go so easily and does all she can to change his mind.
Ben explained: "She gets a bit annoyed, a bit angry, because she doesn’t know the real reason and she thinks there’s something else going on.
"He’s also got no clue about the lengths she’s been going to make sure this wedding goes ahead."
And, although it’s not known whether the pair get their happy ever after in the end, it’s thought the pair decide to turn their backs on Weatherfield to start a fresh elsewhere.
