Alice Copper claims Prince tried to steal his guitarist Orianthi Panagaris.
The 68-year-old hard rocker has revealed his only memory of the late ‘Cream’ hitmaker – who died last Thursday (21.04.16) at the age of 57 – was that he was always trying to poach his band mate Orianthi, who has worked with the likes of Michael Jackson and Carrie Underwood.
He said: "The only real relationship we ever had was he kept trying to steal Orianthi out of my band.
"Every time I talked to Orianthi she’d be on the phone and say ‘It’s Prince again’. I said, ‘Could you tell him that you’re with me for about the next year,’ kidding, of course. I know that he liked to have pretty girls in his band. Other than that I don’t think I ever talked to the guy."
The ‘Poison’ hitmaker admired the music legend and feels people didn’t realise just how good he was with the guitar.
He told Billboard magazine: "I had total respect for him. Nobody really got how good of a guitar player he was – just a great, great guitar player. Musicians knew how good he was. I don’t think the public knew how good he was, though."
Meanwhile, Prince’s former band The Revolution is to reunite to honour the music legend.
The Revolution – which includes Bobby Z., Brown Mark, Matt Fink, Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman – have announced plans for some live shows to remember the ‘Raspberry Beret’ hitmaker.
Brown said: "We have decided, after spending three or four days together now grieving over the loss of Prince, that we would like to come out and do some shows."
