Miriam Margolyes wants to join the cast of ‘Call the Midwife’.
The 74-year-old actress has admitted she would go to extreme lengths to bag a role on the period drama but thinks she’s best suited to playing a nun rather than a nurse.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’ today (14.04.16), she said: "They [the actresses on the show] are so good, all those girls. I saw myself more as a nun than a nurse to be honest. I love that programme, I think they are all majestically brilliant – fine actresses – so I want to be there. There is no end to what I would do to get on that programme. I love it, I love that show."
However, if the ‘Harry Potter’ star did manage to nab herself a highly-sought after role on the series, she’d no longer watch the show because she hates seeing herself on screen.
She explained: "I try to avoid watching any of my work because I don’t like to watch what I do … because I know that I will be embarrassed by myself and I don’t want to see it. I will say the wrong thing or I will look ugly and all those things so I don’t watch it. If people like it, I’m thrilled but I don’t have to watch it. I’m happiest when I’m in the theatre. I love theatre, it’s where you learn, you grow and I hope I get to do some more."
