Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford were heading in the "direction" of a romance on the set of ‘Star Wars’.
The 59-year-old actress had feelings for the actor, 73, when they were cast together in the 1977 space opera and, whilst their characters Princess Leia and Han Solo became lovers in the movie, she says something could have "happened" off set between the pair – but never did.
Probed on whether the chemistry was "real", the star said: "I actually recently found my diaries from this [time]… It had some memories in it… I wonder it too, so when I found the journals I looked. I haven’t looked all the way through it but I must say it seemed to be trending in that direction."
Carrie will never forget the moment she first walked in on Harrison sitting in Han Solo’s spaceship, the Millennium Falcon, and being in awe of his "movie star" presence, which she and Mark Hamill – who plays Luke Skywalker in the franchise – didn’t have back then.
Talking on ‘The Jonathan Ross Show’ she said: "Well when I went on the film I really thought, I saw him and he looked like a movie star. I met him in LA and read with him and stuff and was too nervous to see him. So when we got on the set I saw him and he was sitting in the Millennium Falcon… and I thought he looked like one of those movie stars which was not how Mark [Hamill] and I appeared."
