Ben Cohen has won ‘The Jump’.
The former rugby star – who joined the show in week three – scooped the cowbell trophy in the winter sports contest with an impressive final jump of 18.25m, easily beating Dean Cain’s 17.70m and Tom Parker’s 16.55m leaps in tonight’s (06.03.16) final.
Earlier in the evening, Tamara Beckwith was the first finalist to be eliminated after she faced Dean and Sid Owen in a jump following the Snow Cross event.
The socialist registered a jump of just 15.9m, falling far short of the US actor’s 18.2m and the ex-‘EastEnders’ actor’s very impressive 18.85m, a new record for the show.
Sadly for Sid, he didn’t get to make another jump as he was eliminated after coming last in the ski cross.
He told host Davina McCall afterwards: "It’s been so great and I’ve had the best time ever and what can I say, I’ve give it my all.
"My favourite bit was – I can’t pinpoint it to one thing. It was just the whole thing, especially the jumping."
Last year’s champion Joey Essex had been due to present the trophy to Ben, but was unable to be at the live show as he is in hospital.
Davina said: "He’s in hospital and for once it isn’t anything to do with us.
"He’s having his wisdom teeth out."
The tough contest saw seven contestants – Beth Tweddle, Rebecca Adlington, Tina Hobley, Mark-Francis Vandelli, Sarah Harding, Heather Mills and Linford Christie – pull out due to injury, fuelling speculation it won’t be returning for a fourth series.
