Beverley Callard is "sick" of using fake props on the set of ‘Coronation Street’.
The 58-year-old actress and the rest of the cast are reportedly "furious" that the ITV soap use the likes of fake flowers and cakes on set as they don’t want to look like "amateur" actors.
A source said: "Every time the cast has to work with something like flowers or a cake, it’s fake. This week they filmed a scene where Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) gave his wife Michelle (Kym Marsh) a bunch of flowers and they obviously weren’t real.
"The stars are all furious because they want proper things to work with. It is a distraction for them to be using a rubbish prop. They are convinced that the audience can tell and it makes them look daft.
"Bev is particularly sick of it and has told staff they need a budget for props, unless they want the whole soap to look like ‘amateurville.’"
The whole issue has reportedly become a "real problem" for the cast.
The insider added to The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "The props issue has become a real problem for the cast. It makes it worse that the items are all cheap ones. How much would it cost to buy a simple bunch of flowers or a cake? It’s not like they are asking for Swarovski diamonds to act with. They don’t feel like they are asking for the Earth."
