‘Downton Abbey’s Matthew Goode is set to host a wine show.
The 37-year-old star has nabbed his first presenting gig as he jets across to Italy alongside Matthew Rhys, 41, who is most famed for his role in US TV show ‘Brothers & Sisters’, to educate viewers on different variations of "sensational" booze.
He said: "My late father elicited my interest in wine, bless him, and it has become a life-long love affair! Matthew Rhys and I had so much fun pootling around Italy garnering more and more information on this sensational liquid."
Matthew – who played Lady Mary’s (Michelle Dockery) new husband Henry Talbot in the gripping historical drama – has promised the show will be far from "snobbish" and revealed making the series helped him fulfill a life-long passion.
He explained: "The word ‘fun’ doesn’t even really come close. We are all very proud of the show, it’s funny, moving, informative. Mostly though, the series is about wine through and through, and there’s not an ounce of snobbishness, thank goodness."
The handsome actor has made 13 episodes for the new show, which will hit screens later this year, as he grills a host of guest chefs and wine experts, including Joe Fattorini and Amelia Singer and food expert Gizzi Erskine, on the sweet-tasting beverage.
