Caroline Flack quits The X Factor

Caroline Flack has confirmed she has quit ‘The X Factor’.

The 36-year-old presenter has decided to follow in the footsteps of her co-star Olly Murs and bow out of the ITV talent show following a year presenting the programme.

She said: "I have had a brilliant time working on ‘The X Factor’ over the last few years, and hosting the main show was just fantastic, I made some amazing friends."

However, although she’s turning her back on the show, the brunette beauty is adamant she hasn’t called time on her relationship with the broadcasting channel and will continue to work with it in the future on her programme ‘Love Island’.

She added: "I’m looking forward to carrying on working with the team over at ITV."

Caroline’s decision to leave show comes just hours after Olly, 31, with whom she hosted the spin-off ‘The Xtra Factor’ from 2011 until 2013, announced he was quitting in order to focus on his music career.

The pair took on the live show last year after long-running host Dermot O’Leary was reportedly dropped as part of a shake-up, which also saw Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw – who has now quit the panel ahead of this year’s series – join the judges.

Meanwhile, bosses are currently in discussions over who will present the new series when it returns to screens later this year, as well as who will join long-time mentors Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini on the judging panel.
