Prince Charles’ bumble bee nightmare

Britain’s Prince Charles shrieked when a bumble bee flew up his jacket during his visit to Dunedin yesterday (05.11.15).

The 66-year-old royal feared he would get a nasty sting after the insect landed on his trousers and edged up his suit while he was visiting the Orokonui Ecosanctuary in New Zealand.

The Prince – the oldest son of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip – was holding a tuatara reptile at the time and tried to waft the busy bee away without hurting or angering it, while spectators and photographers watched the antics unfold.

After a few minutes, the black and yellow animal decided to fly off and the Prince – also known as the Prince of Wales – let a huge sign of relief while everyone else giggled.

However, Charles wasn’t the only way who was shaken with fear as his wife Duchess Camilla, 68, who was sitting beside him at the time, had managed to escape the situation just moments before by gently waving the bumble bee away.

Meanwhile, the royal couple – who have been married since 2005 – are currently on a six-day tour of New Zealand.

The pair will finish up their visitations next week and then make their way towards Australia on November 10 to stop by Adelaide, Canberra, Sydney, Albany and Perth.
