Britain’s Queen Elizabeth’s gifts fpr President Xi Jinping

Britain’s Queen Elizabeth gifted the Chinese president a framed picture of herself.

The 89-year-old royal welcomed President Xi Jinping to Buckingham Palace and presented him with a number of gifts including a matching set of silver photo frames, one with a picture of herself in and another with her husband the Duke of Edinburgh.

The President was also given a pair of candlesticks from the Royal Crown Derby as well as a beautiful leather box, which features some of William Shakespeare’s most well-known sonnets.

Xi also offered gifts to Her Royal Highness, including two CDs of his wife Peng Liyuan’s folk music as well as a large porcelain dish, woodcarving and a stamp booklet.

But the stand out gift was an embroidery stretching well over a metre long.

And whilst the pair chatted about the gifts they exchanged at the state banquet, they were treated to the musical stylings of the Countess of Wessex’s String Orchestra, who played a number of tracks including ‘The Westminster Waltz’ as well as Chinese folk songs and The Beatles track Eleanor Rigby.

The band ended their set with the theme tune from James Bond film ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’, ‘Nobody Does It Better’.
