Duchess Camilla’s former childhood home goes on sale for £2.5m

Britain’s Duchess Camilla’s former childhood home in Plumpton, East Sussex, is being sold for £2.5 million.

The 68-year-old royal’s old home, where she was raised, in South East England has gone on the market for the hefty asking sum after being slashed in price by £650,000.

The home, which first went up for sale in March, is set within five acres of land and boasts views of the South Downs.

The lavish property, which is on the market with estate agent Strutt and Parker, is currently home to actor James Wilby, the actor, who is best known for roles in ‘Maurice’, ‘Gosford Park,’ ‘A Summer Story’ and ‘A Handful Of Dust.’

James and wife Shana Louise bought the house from Camilla’s father Major Bruce Shand, who lived there for 45 years, but have now decided to sell in order to downsize.

The estate, known as The Laines, is complete with a paddock, a swimming pool and a tennis court, while the inside boasts seven bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Camilla – who married Prince Charles in 2005 – previously said she has "fond memories" of her childhood in Sussex.
