Queen Elizabeth advertises 21K assistant

Britain’s Queen Elizabeth needs an assistant to respond to her letters.

The British monarch is so overwhelmed with the 60,000 written queries and messages she is sent each year that she is now advertising for a correspondence officer to help with replying to the extensive load and is offering a salary of £21,000 for the person who takes on the role, which is based at Buckingham Palace

The advert on the official royal website says the ideal candidate needs to be "eager to expand your experience" and able to process "a large volume" of responses.

The advert reads: "Over 60,000 letters are received every year. You will assist in responding to all written letters, helping the public with their varying queries. Your challenge will be ensuring every correspondent receives a timely and well composed response.

"From drafting bespoke letters to data inputting, you will monitor all correspondence, undertaking important work for The Private Secretary’s Office."

The profile also shares how it offers "a truly unique" working environment.

The detailed job description added: "With administrative experience you will already have excellent written communication skills. Detail focused and capable of processing a large volume of correspondence, you are well organised in your approach to your daily work.

"You’ll need to be confident drafting letters, using your established IT skills to meet strict deadlines. Above all, you will enjoy working collaboratively with your team, and be eager to expand upon your experience in a truly unique environment."

Applicants have until August 26 to apply.
