Liam Gallagher recording LP with Lee Mavers

Liam Gallagher is working with The La’s’ Lee Mavers.

The former Oasis star teamed up with the 52-year-old Merseyside songwriter two months ago and they are reportedly planning on releasing their new music in the form of a joint album.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Despite all the madness and excitement that surrounds Liam’s personal life, he has always been very serious about his music and doesn’t want to be retired or left waiting for his brother to decide he wants to bring Oasis back.

"Liam has always been a fan of The La’s and Lee’s music and first became friends with him when The La’s supported Oasis in 1994 as they exploded into the charts.

"Liam and Lee share a lot of similar ideas about music and although Liam has had his fair share of success with his own self-penned songs, his voice and swagger combined with Lee’s undoubted ear for a chorus, could create something very special."

The record would be the 42-year-old rocker’s first studio release since Beady Eye – who split up last October – put out their second album ‘BE’ in 2013.

While Lee – who penned the hit indie anthem ‘There She Goes’ – has failed to recreate the success of The La’s sole studio record, released in 1990, Liam has previously admitted he’s a huge fan of the musician.

He said: "Lee Mavers is a f**king dude, man. He’s set in his ways and I f**king love him. That’s his genius, innit?

"Lee is a moody little f**ker but you need people like him every now and again."
