The Script replace Sam Smith at Logie Awards

The Script will replace Sam Smith at The 57th Logie Awards.

Sam had to cancel his appearance at the TV awards ceremony and his Australian tour because of a haemorrhage on his vocal cords.

The ‘Superheroes’ hitmakers – fronted by Danny O’Donoghue – have been confirmed as Sam’s replacement and are already in Oz on their ‘No Sound Without Silence Tour’. They performed a sell-out show at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on Wednesday (29.04.15).

In two Twitter posts about the concert, the band wrote: "You turned our whole world upside down last time! Melbourne ready for more? #TheScriptNSWSTour … Melbourne we had a great time! (sic)"

Before The Script agreed to replace Sam at the event – which is being held at the Crown Palladium in Melbourne on Sunday (03.05.15) – Charli XCX was wanted because she is currently playing concerts on the East Coast of Australia but she ruled it out if the ceremony was happening on her "day off".

Meghan Trainor and Ricky Martin will also play live.

Meanwhile, Sam has promised his fans he will return to Australia in December to play his rearranged concerts.

The Logie Awards will be hosted by Shelley Craft and Jules Lund and will be aired live on Australian TV’s Nine Network.
