Years and Years for Radio 1’s Big Weekend

Years & Years and Catfish and the Bottlemen have been added to the line-up for Radio 1’s Big Weekend.

The Welsh rockers and the ‘King’ hitmaking trio have been announced as the next two performers confirmed for Europe’s largest free ticketed music festival, which will take place at Earlham Park in Norwich on May 23 – 24.

The groups will join the 25-year-old superstar Taylor Swift and ‘What Kind of Man’ singer Florence and the Machine, with further acts yet to be announced to perform across the event’s three stages; the Main Stage, In New Music We Trust Stage and the BBC Introducing Stage.

A total of 25,000 tickets are available for each day, and will be given away through BBC Radio 1’s website from 8am on March 31 on a first-come-first-served basis, with preference given to local residents.

In the run up to Big Weekend, Radio 1 and BBC Learning will also host a week of engaging activities in the area to inspire local 16-19 year olds to take steps towards their chosen careers.

The prestigious annual event is now in its 12th year and has previously hosted headline performances from acts including Rihanna, Madonna and Jay Z, while Katy Perry, Coldplay, One Direction, Ed Sheeran and Kings of Leon all performed at the event in Glasgow in 2014.

The full line-up for the event is expected to be revealed next month, after all tickets have been allocated.
