Ryan Sampson wants Rosamund Hanson in Plebs

Ryan Sampson would love Rosamund Hanson to play Grumio’s long-lost sister in ‘Plebs’.

The 29-year-old actor is keen for the 25-year-old star, who is known for her role as Smell in film and TV series ‘This Is England’, to play his alter-ego’s sibling in the ITV2 comedy and is also hoping the hapless slave gets a romantic interest if the show gets recommissioned for a third series.

He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "One of my best friends is an actress who would be ideal for Grumio’s girlfriend so it would be great if there was a Grumio romance. That’s what I want to happen.

"Rosamund Hanson, who plays Smell in ‘This is England’, would be really good as Grumio’s long-lost sister. She’s got that vacant look which would be exactly right."

Ryan has been delighted with the guest stars who have appeared in the first two series of the ancient Rome sitcom, especially Danny Dyer – who appeared as gladiator Cassius in the second ever episode – as he revealed the ‘EastEnders’ star ordered a round of drinks for the cast as soon as he got to the set.

Ryan added: "The first night he got there we were all sitting down around a table having a couple of drinks and he goes, ‘Right, Limoncellos for everyone.’

"Then this waitress comes and just pours loads of Limoncellos so it was obviously pre-arranged, which is weird because there’s this kind of big, butch guy who likes his lemon-flavoured liqueur and it’s his first night here and he’d decided it was a big night out for everyone."

What’s more, Ryan also used Danny’s cameo appearance to have a bit of fun off-screen by creating a Simon Says-style game about the 37-year-old actor.

He said: "I made this game up called ‘Do You Dare Do What Danny Dyer Does Do’ and one night we had to match whatever Danny Dyer did.

"The answer to it is – none of us can do what Danny Dyer does do. The man is a machine."

‘Plebs’ series two is out to own on DVD now.
